What materials are used?
All Remington solar attic fan models are built from durable, corrosion resistant materials to ensure they can stand up to the elements year after year. The 30-watt Builder Series solar attic fan specifically features a stainless steel construction with a black powder coating, protecting exposed components from strong winds, rain, hail, and more.
As for the solar panel itself, Remington uses polysilicate amorphous panels. These are made with a non-crystalline form of silicon. It’s used to create a thin, flexible film with embedded electrodes. The silicon absorbs sunlight, and the electrodes convert that solar energy into electricity. Because the film is extremely thin, it’s attached to a rigid backing for support. The advantage of using flexible amorphous panels as opposed to rigid ones is twofold. First, they are more resilient to higher temperatures, and second, they perform better on hazy days, requiring a minimum of just 7 watts of solar power to operate.
What are the activation settings for the built-in thermostat and humidistat?
The fan will activate automatically when the built-in thermostat/humidistat registers 80 degrees F and/or a relative humidity of 75% within the attic interior. The fan will also automatically shut off if the interior attic temperature drops below 65 degrees F and/or the relative humidity drops below 55%.
