I bought this solar fan over the summer while redoing my roof. I recommend this unit, its quite and works as stated and will save on your hvac bills. Over the summer my attic is noticeably cooler after the unit was installed. Make sure to angle the panels facing the south east or the direction where the sun shines the most on your roof. I’d even recommend getting two if you have a large square foot house and attic and you live in an area with warm or hot climate.

This unit is fantastic! It’s helping to keep my attic cooler. Initially, I didn’t purchase the AC adapter. I have now as I found out that anytime the heat is above 82 degrees and if the sun is not shining enough to power the unit the AC adapter will kick in. The van is very quiet and I have to go into the attic to confirm that it’s working. Great product, especially since it has a lifetime warranty.

These fans are the best! I compared and researched first, then consulted with the Remington tech people before I bought. (Thank you Remington). My attic has never been cooler, and it made my new HVAC system more efficient as well. My house is 1400sf with a 5:12 pitched shingle roof, and I bought two of these fans. During my re-roof, I placed each one 1/4 of the distance from each end of the roof, and just below the ridge. They of course must coincide with passive vents – so I put 3 O’Hagin vents on each side of the ridge (6 total). The air flow is amazing and means that on many days I won’t have to use the AC at all to keep the house cool, so that’s another savings. I bought one accessory kit from Remington to connect them to house wiring and a wall switch, so I can use them after sundown on days when it’s still hot after dark. After 35 years in this old house, finally a real solution to removing attic heat, and it costs nothing to run.

Installed in Central New York by professional roofing company. Installers said it went in easily enough. Being November, I have not seen the fan in action as of yet.

Installation took less than two hours, but be aware of one oversight. The installation guide has “10 easy steps,” but it leaves out any mention of the included humidistat and thermostat. The two are pre-wired and tied to the fan assembly, but need to be untied so they hang 18″ into the attic open space. The thermostat enables operation above 80 degrees (so you don’t exhaust warm air in the winter) and the humidistat turns on the fan when humidity is above 60% (to dry out a damp attic). Once the fan is installed near the crest of your roof, the top solar panel can be set at multiple angles to optimize solar capture. There is also a screen to keep out critters. It pumps out a lot of heat for such a quiet and automatic fan.

This fan is a breeze to install, pun intended. It is extremely quiet, as a matter of fact, I have to look up in the attic to make sure it is working. It does everything it says. I’m very happy with the purchase, the install and I highly recommend it to anyone who is on the fence about purchasing one. I am a really big fan of this product, pun intended again.

Since installing it, I have read some reviews that indicate that attic fans draw conditioned air from the house into the attic. That has not been my experience, but it is important to make sure that that inlet vents to the attic (e.g. soffit vents) are clear. I had a contractor friend install it, using sealer and stainless steel washers as recommended by another reviewer. The installation went exactly as planned with no problems.

We moved into our new home and found the attic so hot, we could not use it for storage. We installed the Remington 30 watt solar attic fan and now we can use the attic for storage. Easy to install and very quiet. Good solution.
